Florida solar servicers who take on orphaned systems

Every claim below is sourced. Last checked against primary records: 2026-08-17

As of: August 16, 2026. These are independent Florida companies that say, in their own published words, that they service systems they did not install. Every one below has a Florida solar contractor licence number printed here so you can check it yourself.

We are not affiliated with any of them, we are not paid to list them, and this is not a recommendation of one over another. We publish what each company says about itself, plus its licence number, and you decide. If that ever changes, this line changes with it.

Before you call anyone: check the licence yourself

Florida requires a licence for paid solar repair and maintenance. A Certified Solar Contractor holds a CVC number; a Certified Electrical Contractor holds an EC number. Either can lawfully do this work.

Look up any licence, free, at the Florida DBPR: myfloridalicense.com. Search by licence number or business name. It takes about a minute and it is the single most useful minute you will spend.

⚠️ The numbers below were recorded on 2026-08-07 from the sources named in each entry. We have not re-queried DBPR for each one since. Licences expire and statuses change, so check the current status before you hire. One of the three below carries an expiry inside the next few weeks and it is flagged.

One company we found and deliberately did NOT list

A fourth Tampa Bay company markets itself hard to exactly this audience and describes itself as the "premier Tampa Bay authority for 'orphaned,' aging, and underperforming solar systems." Its orphan positioning is as clear as any above.

⛔ We left it off because we could not find a CVC or EC licence number for it, neither on its own site nor in search. Florida requires one for paid solar repair. There are innocent explanations (it may work under a parent company's licence). We are not accusing anyone of anything. But this page's only value is that you can check what is on it, so a company we cannot verify does not go on it, and saying so is more useful than quietly dropping it.

What to ask whoever you call

  1. "Are you licensed for solar work in Florida, and what is your CVC or EC number?" Then check it. Any legitimate contractor expects this question.
  2. "Will you work on a system you didn't install?" All three above say yes in public. Get it confirmed for your equipment.
  3. "Do you charge for the diagnostic visit, and how much?" Orphan diagnostic visits in this market are commonly priced separately from the repair.
  4. "Can you file a manufacturer warranty claim for my equipment, or do I file it?" This matters: for several brands the labour is not covered even when the part is. Our panel-claims page sets out which manufacturers let you file directly.
  5. "Have you worked on my brand of inverter before?" Inverter diagnostics are where orphaned systems most often stall.

Not in Florida?

This directory covers Florida first because Florida prohibits third-party solar PPAs, which means Florida systems are far more likely to be owned by the homeowner, and an owned system with a dead installer is the genuinely orphaned case.

How this page is maintained, and what it costs you

Nothing, and nobody pays us to be here. We take no listing fee, no referral fee and no commission. If we ever do, this section will say so in plain language before anything else changes.

What we will not do: publish a company we cannot licence-check, rank companies by anything other than the evidence shown, or claim any of them is "approved" by us. They are Florida contractors who say in public that they take orphaned work, with their licence numbers attached. That is the whole claim.
